Merge Invaders

Description

Merge Invaders needed characters that read clearly at small device sizes and survive a merge mechanic where forms combine into larger versions of themselves. WOBL designed every tier as a visible evolution, carrying design cues forward from its predecessor, so players could trace lineage at a glance.

Project brief

01 What Merge Invaders needed

In collaboration with Daniel Benitez for a Google project, WOBL created the visual design for Merge Defenders. The game needed colorful, engaging visuals that would read at small device sizes and survive the merge mechanic.

02 How the studio approached it

WOBL designed each character tier as a clear visual evolution, with the merged form carrying forward design cues from its predecessors so players could trace lineage at a glance. Background art stayed minimal to keep the merge area the focal point.

03 What came out of it

Deliverables included character designs across every merge tier, background art, and a UI asset kit, playable at Gamesnacks.
